Problems Changing Email Address

I recently attempted to update the email address associated with my nation 'Free Eagles', and have encountered some problems.

I altered the email associated with the actual NationStates account some time ago, in the process being told that I would be unable to post on the forums until the change of address was validated (which I was never asked to do). However, the change had no apparent effect on my connected forum account, and I could continue to post as normal, as though I had never made the change. Emails connected with the forums were still sent to the old address.

Two days ago, I used the forum controls to alter the email associated with the forum account, and was told, again, that I would receive an email required to validate the change before I could continue to make use of the forums. However, this email has not materialised, and I am stuck, unable to make any use of the forums, almost as though I was not logged in, though I can still track my Subscribed threads. I have also since stopped receiving emails connected with the forums, on either account.

When the validation email had not appeared within 24 hours, I attempted to contact the forum admin using the 'Contact Us' link located at the bottom of the page. However, after sending my message, I received an email telling me that my message could be delivered to it's intended recipient due to 'a permanent error'. I subsequently attempted to resend the message, only to recieve the same response. This would appear to be a flaw in the forum system, which the admins should be made aware of, if they are not already.

I ask for some assistance in rectifying this problem and allowing me to continue using my old forum account. Thank you in advance for your help.

Your account is borked.

You don't even show up as a NationStates Nation anymore, probably because you went through the forums interface rather than the nation interface. There's not a damn thing we can do here, as we don't have access to forum admin tools. Important safety note to any would-be followers: make all changes to your NATION, not the forums. Once you change things on the forums side, they get out of sync with your nation and break our tools.

I'll make a mental note to check back on this and raise it to Jolt directly. Don't expect a speedy response - my last such request is still pending after about 8 months and 3 follow-ups. They're not real responsive.

Ah, damn it...

The thing is, I had already made the change through the nation interface, at least a week before repeating it through the forum interface, with no effect. That's the only reason I made the change via the forums, because changing it through the nation hadn't done anything. So it doesn't appear to work that way either.

Oh well, I guess I at least have this account to post with for the moment. Anything you can do to try and fix this would be greatly appreciated, since I would like the account back at some point, but I understand it's not really in your hands. Thanks again for looking into it.

I just examined your nation and your forum account and (opposed to what Fris said, sorry) they look right. So far as I can tell, they both have the same email address associated with them.

If you still have problems, please submit a getting help request (http://www.nationstates.net/target=help) and reference this thread.

(we were both right, but Salusa knew a trick I didn't know and couldn't execute. Glad you're back.)
