Someone graciously helped me out last week in resurrecting my nation after it had CTE'D two years ago.

I stopped playing because I had been ejected from the UN for having two nations on one computer. I had two nations in the UN on one computer because my roommate in college had decided to play NS as well, after I had recommended it as a great political/RP game.

Now, I'm picking NS up as a hobby again, and I'd like to use my old nation's name for any UN work that I might decide to do, as well as for possible acceptance into government in my old region (I know that you really don't care about that part....)

If there's a possibitly of lifting a UN ban after a certain amount of time or in situations such as this, I'd definately like to know....

Nope. UN Bans aren't lifted; you'll have to use a different UN nation. A common tactic, though, would to be to create a nation called "Granbian UN Mission" or the like.
