Questions of a true n00b
I've heard you can trade between nation, is this true? If so how, and how much exactly does it effect your country.
Also,Can anyone in the utmost detail (I'm a true n00b) show me how to attack and take over other countries? (I'm a blood-thirsty power hungy son of a gun :mp5: )
And I put this last because I find it questionable if it belongs here if it does than I apologize in advance. I've heard that RP may affect your country is this true? Such as if I go to war or trade in RP my population or economy may be affected. Please explain this as a vicious rumor or a true little goodie of the game. It'd be nice if it wastrue :)

Why hello there, Cradoc,
Sorry to say, the answer to all three of your questions is "no" or something similar.
1. Trade takes place in the forums and does not affect your nation in the game, although you can pretend that it does in your interactions with others on the forum.
2. War between nations is always roleplayed, or written out in the forums. When done properly, it is also always mutual, so you can't just go invading everyone you come across. Also, you're rather young...so if you start comparing your populations to those of a majority of the nations here, you would find yourself wildly outnumbered. You have 7,000,000 people. I have 8,245,000,000. It would be ugly lol.
3. And lastly, unfortunately, RP does not affect your nation. It would be impossible to keep track of and/or regulate.
Hope your stay is still enjoyable
Thanks for clearing up that mess now I have one more question if anyone can answer now I know RP attacks dont affect anything but whats this about raids or invasions? I know it has to do with taking over regions, but how? Do you gain influence by doing so etc? Is their anyway to increase your population other than patience? but anyway yea just explain the Raiding more in detail.
The Empire thanks you. :P

Hah...from one Empire to another then:
Raiding/Invading is a form of play on NationStates that I'm admittedly not fully versed in. I'm more of a RolePlayer, and I'm sure someone else can come along to describe it in more detail.
Basically, however, it is a matter of joining with a certain number of other nations, all being members of the UN, and then moving, all at once, to a different, already-populated region that does not have a founder. Once the forum resets itself, the invaders then all vote for one of them, thus making him the UN Delegate. Once delegate, the lead invader then either ejects all of the original nations, or simply just resides over them with the UN delegate position.
There are, however, many more complicated things that go along with Invasions, including founders, a rather strict set of rules with strong consequences, and the new "regional influence" addition. As I said, I'm sure someone else can come by to try and explain it better.
As for population, make sure you set your options to recieving two issues per day (not even sure if that matters or if its just an old legend), and then just wait for a really long time haha.

Hah...showing my age yet again. 2007 nations are already making me feel old...although the current wankiness of the forums is not giving me nostalgic thoughts of the old days, when you could only post between 2-3am EST...
Thanks guys I already have it set to twoissues a day so it wouldn't have mattered anyway. I like the feel of having more power over the people :P. And maybe when I get big enough I might join you in a roleplay.

This game is old and very outdated. If you were looking for an exciting nation game with quick thinking, glorious battles, prosperous trade journeys, and a view of your nation, well, you're going to be dissapointed. Everything in this game happens at .007 mph.
I show this game to a lot of my friends, and most of them hate it. If NationStates ever wants to be a successful game (by successful, I mean almost competing with runescape. Runescape is a ridiculous monopoly. Now that I think about it, a lot of people hate Runescape too, including myself...), I think they need to do some quick updates. Even if it freezes the entire game progress for half a year.
I agree that NS isn't a "fast-paced" game, but that's part of what I like about it. I have a life apart from the game, and if I had to worry about someone destroying my nation because I had a 12 hour day at work, I probably wouldn't still be playing it after nearly a year. If you want more than the basic game provides, that's what the various forums are for.

Sort of like Planetarion or whatever it is. My friends tell me that they start playing it and 5 minutes after they start or when they're not there some behemoth planet comes in and takes over.
Well, this may help:

Contrary to what you may have heard, Max Barry and Pals are not in the business of destroying the lives of youngsters and reanimating them as mindless, roleplaying automatons. NS was created to market Mr. Barry's novels--not to be the one game to rule them all. NS will continue to do well so long as it remains focused on the niche that was responsible for its initial success.
