Resolution Name: Define Region

Body

In order to gain region status, the following requirements should be met...

1. The region must have a minimum of 10 nations
2. The region must have a minimum population of 500 million (once combined)
3. The region must have a clear and defined type of goverment, and must submit a document that explains their form of goverment

These four simple things would cut down on the outrages amounts of failing regions throughout the world. It ensures that the nationstates that are joining the region have the same ideaology and are on the same page. It will significantly decrease the number of regions throughout the world and will ensure that only quality regions are created.

Regions are well defined already. They are a place where a founder can either stay completely alone or invite friends and other players in.

If you want to roleplay governments, or have a requirement in YOUR REGION that it will not exist if you have fewer than ten nations, be our guest. However, the problem of failing regions is self-correcting -- when the last nation dies, so does the region.

If this is a UN proposal, well, all Gameplay proposals are illegal by definition.

Well I've noticed at least 400 regions that are single nations who are inactive.

1. This is a political sim. A region is really an alliance and so it would have to adopt some kind of pact or goverment or create some kind of document.

2. I think that it would drasticly improve the game if a region had to follow these rules as it would cut down on them and force for players to learn the game first and then if they became knowledgable enough and popular enough they would eventually gain support of at least 10 members (and I would suggest even more).

3. This is the techniqual forum and if you implememnted this you would have to change the game a little on the regions part. That's why it's here.

Asile, part of the charm of NationStates is that it is free to play and players are free to do whatever they want to their nation.* This philosophy of freedom has been extended to regions: any nation can make a region, and the region can be used for whatever purpose the founder sees fit. And as Kat said, the single-nation region problem tends to solve itself.

* Within the limits of the rules, of course.

Well I've noticed at least 400 regions that are single nations who are inactive. So, if they want to be in a region by themself that's their perogrative. Besides all regions* start out with only one nation in them, the founder.

1. This is a political sim. A region is really an alliance and so it would have to adopt some kind of pact or goverment or create some kind of document.Speaking as a Founder, I can tell you that that claim is utter bullshit. NS Final Fantasy has no pact or government or even any rules (besides the ones that cover all of NS) and we get along just fine.

2. I think that it would drasticly improve the game if a region had to follow these rules as it would cut down on them and force for players to learn the game first and then if they became knowledgable enough and popular enough they would eventually gain support of at least 10 members (and I would suggest even more).Somehow, I doubt that this would do much, all you'd have to do is use puppets to fill the required 10 nations.

3. This is the techniqual forum and if you implememnted this you would have to change the game a little on the regions part.Well I can tell you this, implementing this would require recoding the game, which I can say with a fair degree of certanty that the admins won't do.

That's why it's here.Well, that and Hack (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=513910) already told you that the UN wasn't the way to go.

*That is of course player created regions.
