Moderated Status bug [formerly "Cannot post in UN Forum"]

Retired WerePenguins
30-11-2006, 18:56
My original nation is Tzorsland, but recently I started using my puppet Nation of Retired Werepenguins. I attempted to post twice in the UN forum. Yesterday I got the message saying that I did not have permission to post in the forum and never even saw the editing box. Today I saw the editing box but after posting was told that I was on moderated status and my post would be visible after it was approved by a moderator.

I'm going to try using Retired Werepenguins first and if that fails I'll post as Tzorsland.

Tzors, I can find nothing in your settings that would be causing this, nor can I find any posts by you in the Moderation queue.

Maybe a Game Mod can provide further help, but I'm out of ideas.

Yes it's really strange. Once my post here got through I noticed that my post to the UN Forum had also appeared. But I know it wasn't there before I posted to the Moderation forum.

OK I posted a message in the UN forum just fine.
Tried to post another message in the same thread a few minutes later and got a moderated warning after posting.

I really should not post things when I am busy doing a dozen other things at the same time at work. I think I know the problem, or at least I have a good circumstancial evidence of the problem. IMG tags. Both my moderated posts had IMG tags in them. The ones without them have had no problem. I reccomend the gurus check that possible problem.

I've got a mail in to Jolt admins, with your name and this thread listed. We'll see how they respond.

Both my moderated posts had IMG tags in them. The ones without them have had no problem. I reccomend the gurus check that possible problem.

Good tip, thanks.

One of my own posts just showed up as "Moderated". No image code. Yeah, this is random.

I just got a warningish message saying that my post will be posted after mod approval when i was trying to post with one of my puppets. If it helps the name of the country is Ada Lovelace, don't know if you need that or not.
I will apologize though, tried to repost a few different times, and got a message saying that it was a duplicate post,(which it was) and that i would be redirected , so i am sorry about they possible two or three post that are awaiting approval , they are all the same so if just one of them makes it up that would be spiffy.

i just though that i should add in here that i was trying to post in NationStates when this happened, dont know if that really makes a difference but i hope its helpful

What would be more helpful would be a link to the thread or post, In future, anyone posting with a Moderate Status claim, please provide a link and a post number (or previous post #, if yours is invisible).

Thanks.

Okay, that sounds reasonable, but before they are posted? I recently attempted to post a thread on II, but, (and I regret that I didn't think to copy the exact text than) it thanked me for my post and told me it would now by reviewed by a moderator. Is this common? I've been on the site before, under various names, and haven't had this happen before.

Is it the name of my nation, perhaps, or just a new rule?

Edit: I should note that this did not happen with this thread, or my other post in a thread on general.

This happened to me as well. It's only happened once, while I was attempting to post a new thread in II.

*It happened again, when I tried to post a new topic in II. Here's the exact message.

Thank you for posting! Your post will not be visible until a moderator has approved it for posting. You will now be taken back to the forum. If you opted to post a poll, you will now be allowed to do so.

Click here if your browser does not automatically redirect you.

Also, I really don't know how I can provide a link, considering it was a new thread I was trying to post, so there wasn't any previous post number.

Flib is correct.

I've validated your posts in II and the one in General.

I'm sorry, but several of my posts are being hidden pending some kind of "moderator approval", but not all of them.

Is this related to my status as a new poster, and is there some criteria by which certain posts are deferred for approval and others are not?

Thanks.

Given that a moderator had one of their posts put up for moderation, I think we can safely say it's random. We're all approving as we see them and find them, if there's specific posts that are still unapproved then post them here.

Both a reply to the Faith Healings thread and a new thread by myself have been delayed for moderation.

I can't link as they don't exist yet!

In fact, we would appreciate it if you didn't post about them. We'll get to 'em sometime soon.

Forum mods are hitting the Approval Queue several times a day and auto-approving everything. We're also trying to talk Jolt into removing this 'feature', at least from our members and/or forums. In short, we're doing everything we can to alleviate this problem, and notification doesn't add to our urgency.

Thanks.

Hello Mods, I'm not sure of what happened or not but I recently posted or tried to post a reply in this thread... A World without Zionism

I wasn't vicious at all or rude or anything bad just stated a couple of facts from actual quotes of the Iranian President in regards to Israel.

My question is...is it normal for posts to go straight to moderation team for approval? I accidently duplicated it also before realizing what had happened so I do apologize for the duplicate. (The screen with the messege came and went quickly for my eyes to catch)

Also, if it isn't normal to go to mods for approval are their certain words that you have chosen to side on the side caution and if so can you tell me so I can do my best to prevent it from happening again? Thank you in advance in answering my questions and I wish you all a Merry Christmas.

This only happens about 50% of my posts. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It's not so much a bug as a feature, added to the Jolt forums due to massive abuse of their forums by people trying to spamvertise products. The new spam filter theoretically only affects users with less than 10 posts, and moderates any post containing particular words (including sell, nokia, viagra etc etc).

It doesn't look like we going to get an exemption, as it IS doing the job they wanted it to do. The spammers selling mobile phone crap keep that moderation queue full to overflowing. Jolt tells us that they get up to 900 such spam posts a day.

Guess it's something we'll have to get used to.

apparently need moderator approval? Is there like a trigger word or something?

We don't have access to the filter list, but you used 'porn' in one post and 'sex' in the other. If I were a puritanical British hosting company beset by spam, I'd have probably included both of those words on the list.

As to why your post in this very thread was Moderated ... not a friggin' clue. Maybe your Lotto numbers came up.

Well, that makes sense. I would have set the program to look for those words too since most spam is for that stuff. I have to dump a ton of it out of my email box at least once a week. You put on junk mail and they still find ways to put it in your box.

That explains why I got that message on my recruitment post in Gameplay. I was wondering if it was picking on me, since that was my 2nd post to get stalled (out of 2 posts). I guess it's not too bad, as long as the posts evenually go through.

If anyone else is getting Moderated posts, please mention it here.

Instead of spewing topic after topic all over the forums, please take the time to look for answers in the sticky threads at the top of Moderation and Technical first.

Threads merged.

Just a thought, but could you make an Announcement about it? That might draw more attention even more obviously, and mean you'd only get two, not three, new threads on it each day.

I considered that, but those things are on a timer, and I liked the possible permanence of a sticky in the two main Tech forums better.

Good thought, though.
