Validation email: spam blocker issue [Attn Admins]

Okay, well, I finally got an email address verified, however, it's been a royal pain getting this far. While I did experience the issue mentioned above, my problem is also different. I created my nation, input all the required info, including my valid regular everyday email address, which I have through Time Warner Cable (Road Runner). I received no email back from nationstates, however, to verify the address. I tried inputting the info again, verifying that all info was correct, and still no email. I switched to another email address on the same account with the same result. I found the faq in game, and followed it's instructions, checked my spam folder, and even whitelisted admin@nationstates.net. Still no email. I went out to my ISP's site in an attempt to figure out why I am not getting it, and it would appear that your site is being blocked by their WAPS spam blocker. I tried emailing admin@ns about it, with no luck. I finally tried using an old yahoo email address then encountered the problem above.
Is there no way for me to get a validation code sent to me in game so I can use my regular email acct?

You have two options: Tell your ISP to stop blocking sites that aren't actually spamming, or get a new ISP.

I'm going to have to raise this to the admins, but the short answer is We don't control what your ISP considers 'spam'We've done everything we can to make ISPs think we're not sending spam, but if they don't listen, there's not a lot we can do.
Incidentally, I'm not 100% certain that the message header considers the email to be from admin@nationstates.net. The whole purpose of the email validation is to confirm that a nation created in our system (nationstates.net) is recognized by Jolt's system (forums1.jolt.co.uk), and of course that it's a valid email address. Despite the fact that Jolt hosts both systems, there may be a problem with the discrepancy in message headers.
Let's see if [violet] or SalusaSecondus can shed any additional light on this issue.

Not true, and quite rude. Please leave definitive statements to people who actually have a chance at knowing what's going on.

Frisbeeteria, the one email I did get, via the yahoo mail acct came from admin@nationstates.net, with a link back to validate. However I did not receive any email using my two regular accts. The really weird thing is that I briefly joined the UN, and I got an email on my regular acct regarding my acceptance? So I really don't know why I would get one, and not the other...<sigh> But if anyone can clarify for me, I'd appreciate it. For what it's worth, my sister is having the same issue, different ISP, and she's not received her email validations either. LOL, and we're on opposite sides of the US!

I know that is what appears in the From field. I'm talking about the routing instructions in the message header. Since they appear to be from two different domains (though actually they aren't), the ISP may consider that to be deceptive in some way.
It's a bit of overzealousness, in my opinion, but in the current IT security environment, too much is preferable to too little.

Well, you have a point there. Just seemed odd that both my sister and I are having this problem, but we are both with the largest ISP's in our respective areas. I know that may not be your fault, but if there's anyway I can just get the acct verifed, I think the emails will go though. It's just apparently something about the validation one it doesn't like! :(
Edit: Sorry Frisbeeteria! I had already sent the telegram before I was able to get on the forums!

I was being neither rude, nor - as shown by your own statement - incorrect. I'm not trying to be argumentative, but since you accused me of spreading false information and being "quite rude", I have to say something on my behalf.

There is a difference between "not a lot" and "nothing". We were able to resolve a long-standing issue with AOL by convincing the Jolt admins to add a line to a configuration file. It's quite possible that the very few people who actually have access to the code (three on our side, two on the Jolt side) might actually come up with a technical solution.
As pointed out in The One-Stop Rules Shop (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=416023), we prefer for definitive statements (Only "A" or "B") to come from people who have 100% accurate information. Note that in this case, even I don't have fully accurate information, and included qualifiers in my statements. Had you included the word 'probably' in your reply, I wouldn't have had cause to even bring this up.
Hope that clears this up.

Is this still being looked into? Or should I just let it go? <sigh>

Drae,
If you need a gmail account (nationstates isn't blocked on it) then drop me a line. I have a couple hundred invites.

Not the point. I have obviously gotten this to work, but it was via a Yahoo email acct. I was still hoping to find resolution as to why it will not work with my RoadRunner email acct. Something is glitched. Before I had forum access via the Yahoo acct, I had gotten an email to my RR acct regarding my UN acceptance, although I had never received the email verification there...but the only way I can get the email verification email is through my Yahoo acct.

Given that we have hundreds or thousands of players who have successfully joined with their @xxx.rr.com addresses (including myself), I can't really see that we have a problem here. Roadrunner emails are going through left and right, but only you and your sister are blocked. I just can't see that as 'our fault' or something we need to resolve.
Nobody else has ever mentioned this. Failing having a reproducible issue, my usual practice is to close the issue. If you have further suggestions for action, you're welcome to post them. Can't promise we'll do anything, though.

Okay, I did mention that my sister and I are in different states and on different ISP's, right?
I never said it was "your fault", either. You were the one that said you were moving it to a separate thread for the Admin's to look at. My only question here was whether or not they had.
As far as the "reproducible issue", if my sister were to also post here stating the same problem, would it then be looked into further? Or are you saying that since we are the only two you are aware of, unless others complain, we're just SOL?
When I attempted (on my end) to find out if you (Jolt) were being blocked, the the SPAM blocker my ISP uses indicates that I could not get you unblocked, but instead, the request to be unblocked would have to come from your end (Jolt). So, are you saying that since my sister and I are the only two you are aware of with this issue, it is not likely Jolt would make that request?

Right now I have no details to take to the admins (and they're both busy with RL at the moment), as the content in this thread is simply to vague to be actionable. Send in a Getting Help request, attn: Fris, with all the relevant nation names and emails used. Include specific details of what you've discovered from your searches. I'll bring it to their attention when they have a moment. Don't expect a speedy answer.
