I propose you dont save nation names for "former nations" put the names back up for use, i mean its not like there going to need the name again, and if they do come back then they need to go find a new nation name.

There was a plan for that, however, I believe there were some problems in getting forum accounts to work for those nation names.

I'd be very strongly opposed to that idea. When you spend some time in the forums and get to know people, it's not fair for the name of a nation to later come back as someone else. Aside from the fact that it would be confusing, former posters have a right to leave their reputations (or lack of) intact.

Well, the timeline was that 18 months after a nation had ceased to exist the name could be released. After that amount of time, it's not necessarily *that* big of a problem.

True, though just today someone posted an 'I'm back' thread in General - someone who'd been away for two years. He was posting with a new nation, but he could ask for his original nation to be revived. So there could be a problem.

So there could be a problem. If this system was in place, had nobody tried to make a nation with that name, he could still get it back.

I know, which is why I said 'could' be a problem, not 'is' a problem.

Given our current situation with Jolt, and the fact that we've never been able to isolate the forum-game link issue that prevents the release, I think it's safe to close this issue again.

It's not going to happen anytime soon, for technical reasons. End of story.
