There should be several different counters such as a counter for amount of people (altogether and average) of all of the nations. There could also be one for number of nations in UN, number of regions, etc. I believe this would be a nice addition and does not seem too hard to add, as it could be as simple as addition.

That being said, this is compiled from time to time. I'm not sure if populations are regularly tabulated by players, but I know that Salusa has a couple times. The most recent count is here (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=470125) from February of this year.
