Open Source

Hey there. I was writing to ask you to seriously consider open sourcing the original NationStates game. Techincally the game is astounding on how it puts the user on to a certain position on a 3d model based on hundreds of decisions made in the past, and also giving different descriptions each time a decision is made. The code should be a showcase of this.

If you aren't sure on what Open Source involves, see the Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open-source_software) article. Specificly see what licences you can use, where you have the choice to restrict the commercial use of the code. Also with the ever approaching Nation States 2, you have absolutely nothing to lose. I hope you see that Open sourcing is the way forward.

Cheers,
Tom

Figuring out a total using basic math isn't particularly astounding no matter how far you carry it on.

and also giving different descriptions each time a decision is made.

Neither is 'if option X then display result Y.'

I hope you see that Open sourcing is the way forward.

Yeah, sorta like how improving security at a nuclear power station could be accomplished best by leaving all the doors open so people could come in and make suggestions.
