My other nation is the delegate of the sinker region "Lazarus" as its well known, Lazarus is the region where nations that previously CTEd go when they are revived by the Mods.

Recently, someone sent me a telegram regarding the region of "Unknown" Its follows as such.

Dear Killer Kitty,

As the UN Delegate of Lazarus I will report this incident to you:

I am the founder of Capitalist Paradise, and of course, 1st recruiter of my region. I dont use the RMB, I always use diferents telegrams for each nation. One of the procedures I follow is to telegram all the "arriving" nations (the ones that I believe are proper to my Capitalist region).

In the last couple of weeks, I notest that the region "Unkonw" is always in the Regional Happenings, several times per day. This region have 22 nations, and none of them ceased to exist in the last days. They dont post a recruit notice in the RMB, they just keep going in and out.

This action, so difficult to see, is a violation to the rules (see "The ONE-STOP rules" topic in the forum... or something like that). I play fair, and I want others play fair too. Perhaps you, as the UN Delegate, will be able to take some profs of this and report it to the mods.

I thought the guy just didn’t understand that concept of Lazarus and the fact the revived nations are sent there so I sent him a TM explaining it, this is what I got back

With all respect: Im almost a 5 billon nation. I know that every nation goes to Lazarus when they are reborn by request. If Im sending you the telegram is because something smells fishy.

Please take in mind that:
a) The amount of nations from "Unknow" that arrived in the last two weeks is unreasonable. Im speaking of more than 50 from a region that is 22 and was around 20 from a long time ago. The region should have been +75 in order to get that amount of nations and also is very strange how they are "revive" every day, in different times.

b) When a nation revives in Lazarus not only you region gets the "NATION arrives from Unknow" message in the regional happenings, the original region gets the "NATION departs to Lazarus". This is not the case. "Unknow" does not get any of those messages (and we are talking about nations that arrive to Lazarus 1 hour ago, not 5 days. The RH of Unknow should be showing this).

If this is not a script, is a game-bug. Please consult the mods.

Even though he mis-spelt the regions name I know of Unknown, its sort of hard not to notice a region from which nations come in from everyday. I went to confirm his report and sure enough he was right, proof is as follows

86 minutes ago: The Armed Republic of Avengia arrived from Unknown.
87 minutes ago: The Empire of Maralina arrived from WLT.

18 hours ago: The NationState of Unfamiliar arrived from The Rejected Realms.
18 hours ago: The NationState of Unfamiliar departed this region for The Pacific
19 hours ago: The Armed and Dangerous Republic of Dentotalen Krieg arrived from The Lexicon.

Notice anything missing? That’s right, no "the [nation name] departed" message, just a message on the Lazarus Region Happenings.


So the real question is Mod experiment? Or game bug?

Neither a bug nor an experiment.

When a nation is restored from a non-existent region, its originating location is listed as "unknown". We restore lots of old nations from small or dead regions, so you'll see it often.

Because of the way the HTML is scripted on region pages, the source region shows up as a hyperlink back to that region. At some point, that link just went to the default NS page.

Some clever lad created the nation "The Unknown Origin of Anonymus" and founded the region "Unknown", figuring (correctly) that he'd get a bunch of free links every time we rezzed a nation. Pretty slick trick.

It's not so much a bug as somebody exploiting a quirk in the code. It does no harm to the game, so we allowed it to stay. Simple as that.

No, Wolfie, it's not a conspiracy or a bug (not really).

I asked Pythagosaurus, the most likely reason is that the region that the nations originally died in no longer exist. As the game deletes empty regions, they're coming from an "Unknown" place. Not the actual region named Unknown.

And Fris answers too. :p
