I'm getting all kinds of very lame popups from here. It is not from anywhere else, it is just here. I have Adaware, Innoculant and Spydoctor on my comp and i have run them all, I have also tried restoring to an older system and that didn't work either. I sit behind a $50,000 hardware firewall, too. Also, I'm not the only one.

I've never had pop ups from NS or Jolt, and don't have them now either..

The past few days, I've been getting pop-ups as well, the majority of which pertain to poker and pornography.

I was getting pop ups on NSG all day yesterday. As someone had said earlier on another thread, focus is taken off the window you are looking at on its own, and when you click focus back anywhere on the window (like say the scroll bar), a popup strikes again!

I am using IE (I always get the latest updates) and I use a pop-up blocker, adaware and spybot.

Hmmm. I have Firefox. No popups. I think y'all might have some spyware that isn't being detected. Make sure that any scanners you have are up to date, and also try downloading firefox at http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/

I think NS and Jolt are both sites that are strictly anti-popups, so it probably means spyware.

yeah, spyware does seem the most likely cause. I've never experianced popups from Jolt or NS.

I would also suggest Windows Defender, from download.microsoft.com.

It isn't spyware or adware. I currently have 5 open IE windows.

My www.mac.com email and this page. The only time a popup comes up is when I have this window as teh active window. I do not ever get popups from any other window, just this one. I'm not a programmer, but I am a comp professional and I work at a gigantic company with a top notch IT department. I have all of the best anti-adware and spyware programs and I have two popupblockers on, the native IE one and another one. I have reloaded my operating system back to the beginning of the month when I know I wasn't getting them and I have run every spyware, adware and virus scan I have and they all come up empty. I have no problem on the internet at all until I open up these forums. The problem is coming from Jolt - not my comp - and it is making it a pain to even talk here because it takes a while for the popup to actually open and I can't post while it happens - I can go other places just fine while it opens, but not here - and sometimes it freezes the jolt page and I get a "not responding" message. At that point I hit the "end program" button and the popup and jolt forum both close, leaving all the other windows open and uneffected. Again - the problem is here, not on my comp.

Still weird that only some people have it, while others don't. Maybe a kind of adware that hasn't been found out yet by those who make those anti-adware programs?

A firewall is only as good as your most exploitable software (which, on most systems, is the web browser), no matter how much you spent on it. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: never, ever, ever, ever, ever use IE. This will solve your problems.

Posting through the lock to add a little something...

Now, I know that nobody would ever dream of using software like Kazaa, Limewire, or eDonkey, but on the off chance that aliens installed that software on your computer, you probably have a large part of the problem right there. Despite what they say, those programs are loaded with adware, oftentimes tied to the program itself (ie: can't have one without the other). And since people who write adware write to the most popular usage... well... that would be IE.

Might be worth looking into.
