Purged nation names

'K I suspect that this has been brought up before, but it's too much of a pain to find it.

If anybody wants to provide me a link, or just answer, that'd be great.

I've been really off the forums for over a year, and off NS for about half that, just back for a week. And I have a question: Names are being purged every eighteen months now?

What about people impersonating mods?

Pretty sure that Enodia's gonna be opening up within a few months, for example. He left quite a while ago now.

Or Grated Cheese and Demoness the nations behind old [mantel] and Fedoras.

Even aside from that is the issue of people claiming famous old players, (I'm guessing there's no new "Marathon" because mod-DEATed nation names are forbidden) many of which will open up fairly soon. It's almost two year since I joined, and many oldies left a bit before or after I joined.

As I said, I'm sure this has been broached before, so sorry. I've been away.

There is no purging of names at the moment (I think there was only ever one small one) due to technical problems.

Mods names and nations deleted for rule-breaking will not be released.

I grilled Hack about this and he said that all nations would be released so I assume they would to.

Mostly correct. There are a few other exclusions, as it's not fair for a new nation to claim author credit for old UN resolutions and issues. I think there were a few others in the criteria list as well, some fairly obvious, others obscure and technical.

If we ever get the code working (and it's not primarily a NationStates problem, it's mostly Jolt), we'll revisit the exclusions.

Yeah, I just saw (well not just, but just before I had to leave my comp) the news article mentioning the issues.

What about regional founders?

That's another potential issue.
