A bit of a Catch-22 situation

Not sure if this is the correct forum or not, so apologies if it needs to be moved...

I've a bit of a problem at the moment and would like advice on how to solve it. I was a long-standing resident of a region called Govie Island, which has gradually seen its population decline to just 4, with two nations being run by one person. We decided to try and recruit a few other nations, so I hopped out to the Pacific and a few other feeder regions and left a recruitment ad on their noticeboards. However, I'd forgotten that Govie Island was password-protected and can't get back in.

I've tried telegramming our UN delegate there for the password, but I don't think he's noticed and obviously I can't put anything on the regional board- the other person running two nations hasn't been online for a week either. In addition, me moving out caused him to lose his UN delegate status, so I'm not even sure if he could remove the password protection if he couldn't remember what it was.

Is there any way round this? I did try contacting the mods via the request form, but they said there's nothing they can do.

My non-official assessment of the situation is that you're screwed.

Well, I'd think that you'd have to wait until your region's ex-UN Delegate comes online again. If he can remember the region's password, then that's great, he can let you in, but if he has forgotten it, then you could ask him to tell all nations to leave the region until the next major update when, if there are no nations in the region, it will be deleted. Then, once it's deleted, you can re-found it under the same name.

Hmm, surely it'd be a damn sight easier for someone just to pop me back in the region? Seems a bit odd that I can leave a region I've been in for 3 years for ten minutes and find myself permanently locked out.

Well, you could ask one of the mods to help you, but I'm not sure what the guidelines are in this situation.

Me neither.

Any mods around?

Unfortunately, the only way you'll get back in is to get the password from the former delegate. You left your region without knowing the password to get back in and unfortunately that's the end of the matter.

OK. Any chance you could stick a post on the regional board briefly explaining the situation, please? I can't seem to attract his attention via telegram.

Umm... no. Ask another resident of the region to do it for you if you think that would help.

There's only one other resident (running two nations) and he hasn't logged in for a week, hence the 'recruitment drive'. I don't mean to be rude, but why is this so difficult? If you can do it, then please do so.

No, it's not. It's actually quite difficult to get everything right.

The reason it's not simpler is simple. We don't get involved with legal regional activity, and there's nothing illegal I can think of that requires us to move someone into a closed region. I can also think of several unethical reasons why nations would ask for this service, so it's not a precedent we want to set.

Sorry. We're not going to help you.

OK, cheers. I can just imagine the horrendous game-breaking precedent you'd set by making a 'wake-up Mephestophilis, you dozy bugger, Foamerland wants back in' post on a regional board. Let's face it, Franco's Spain had nothing on this.

Three years playing a game and one simple request. Thanks a bunch.

And how would you feel, I wonder, if we unwittingly popped an invader into a closed region because they made the same request you're making here....?

I'm not a mod, but let me add my 2 cents. Katganistan mentioned why they can't "pop" you into the region. You also mentioned the mods posting on the RMB on your behalf, however, if your ex-delegate isn't looking at his TGs, he may not be watching the RMB either. I know it sucks, but it sounds to me like you're SOL.

I'm not asking you to do that, though. Just pop a message on the regional board to attract the guy's attention.

As people have said before, if he's not checking his TGs (which are brought to your attention on your nation page), what makes you think he's checking the RMB (which would require him to scroll down the page)?

Finally back in.
