How come my nation has a barren and inhospitable landscape?
How do I get it to be more lush and hospitable?

By answering issues.
For example(Don't know if you've had this one)
The uranium discovery issue
If you choose to leave it alone, that's make it more hospitable(I think)
If an issue might be able to cause enviromental damage(dumping waste, lots of paper used ect) you don't want it.
