Yet another n00b question.

Okay, so I'm scouring the forums for random stuff and I hear mention of a way to choose government type at the beginning. So, I decide to look into it at the nation creation screen. Lo and behold, there it is, a dropdown menu.

Ok, so long story short....

Does that choice effect the way your country leans when you make decisions that effect the nation? Like for instance... if I choose sensible and when I get the "Should Democracy be Compulsory?" issue and I select the option to abolish government, would it not make not as much of an affect on my UN Category if I'd have selected evil as a government style?

i believe this from the FAQ will answer your question (at least, i hope it does...)

>My nation is "the Free Republic of Bruteland," but the UN says I'm a dictatorship!

You can call your nation whatever you like, but it doesn't make it true. The UN categorizes nations based on their laws, not their names. Changing your name from "Dictatorship" to "Republic" (or anything else) has cosmetic value only.

Read the question in future. To attempt an answer of my own, I'd guess that it will have some effect, but the extents escape me.

Thank you. I'm talking about the dropdown menu that says Anarchic... Liberal... Sensible... Evil... etc. If you need to see, look at nation creation... and I still wanna know!

Bump for great justice!

EDIT: Also, this opriton cannot be changed after creation. KTHXBI

I think that this choice simply interacts with your other initial choices (on things like capitalism, religion, military service, drugs and so on...) to determine your original UN Category...

Oh, and maybe it affects the adjectives that get used to describe your population, too, although how you answer issues afterwards would change that detail...

This should answer your question.
