how do I keep a thread up for more than a day?

I noticed that several people have been having personal issues so they decided to ask for advice through forums on this site too. My friends are having a few troubles and I wanted to know how to keep a thread up for as long as needed without it getting deleted.

1) Make it interesting enough that people answer it. Threads generally aren't deleted; they sink to the bottom of the forum from indifference.

2) Wouldn't counseling be better than asking a bunch of strangers, a number of which can be counted upon to give intentionally bad/mocking advice?

2) Never! We offer the best advice, whether it be bigoted, racist, skewed, or otherwise maladjusted. Where else would we ever learn that we should surround our coastlines with walls to protect from tsunamis and that 13 year olds opinions don't matter?

well I usually sould see counselers but my oponents have contacts so I would like an unofficial yet reliable source.

I don't think 'reliable' is what you'll generally find here...

I've seen two people ask for advice here, and so far the people here were compassionate and gave their best advice.

Yeah, but even at that price, it's still a rip-off. :D

Perhaps we should have a stickied 'Advice' thread in the general forum.

I think that could work.

You could always just bump it now and then if you haven't gotten the answer so far. Though real life counselling could help much better.
