I know it's quite a time ago now but did they ever find out who did that/what happened there?

Um ... I'm quite familiar with "The Story Of O," but this mystifies me.

I can't gather much either, but that's all we got. I would compare it to a holy text, but thats not giving a whole lot of respect to the holy text in question.

What I heard from it is that it reset your three stats in the game (Civil Rights, Economy, and Political Freedoms) to 0, ergo resetting the UN Category of your nation. Not sure if this is entirely accurate, but it's just what I was told.

Basically a data storage disk reached its storage limit. As more and more people logged in, the properties of their nations (population, customisable fields, hidden national variables, etc) were set to null values (ie zero) and the file corrupted so further logins were impossible.

Thus an Anarchy called The Something of Something would become an Inoffensive Centrist Democracy called The 0 of 0, with all its properties, from national animal to strength of automobile manufacturing industry, set to 0.

Luckily the entire game is 'saved' at server updates, so after space was freed up by fixing some bugged log files, the game was replaced with a copy saved at a server update 16 hours previously. Thus people had to repeat their last issue decisions and every nation lost 1-10 million people.

This has happened before and people in the Technical Forum discuss such issues regularly.

Is it possible for it to happen again?

And should i move this to the technical forum?

No, we changed the gravitational constant of the universe, so the disk can never run out of space ever again. Ever. And you can quote me on that.
