100 % tax rate - Does that sound Right?
I dont know if this is teh right place to point this out but here it is:
My nation has these words in its intro:
"...high-income earners pay a 100% tax rate..."
I havent heard of any Real World country with a 100% tax rate and even if this aint a real world thing, even then a 100% tax rate doesnt make any sense at all.

Welcome to NationStates, where things don't have to make sense, and frequently don't.

Truly things don't make sense, because you can have *higher* than 100% tax rate. :p

OOC: There have actually been RL countries within living memory (both India and Norway, I'm fairly sure, if not others too...l) where left-wing governments set "punitive" tax-rates for the very wealthy that effectively had them paying over 100% of their income (by cutting into their previously-accumulated capital) in 'income tax' until the governments & rules got changed...
Think of it as the government having complete control over the economy rather than a "tax".

or no economy ... I.E everything is free
or no economy ... I.E everything is free
Yes, that's how I play my nation, but there's still a gift economy.
Thanks for the words
btw any ideas how to bring it down ... it really breaks my heart to see my people pay so much tax

Wait for any issue that offers an option to cut taxes.

It might take you a very long time to change your tax rate. I’ve been at around 70% for over a year and more recently at 100% a very long time, thanks to some iffy issue glitches. I don’t spend anything, I’ve cut spending wherever I get a chance, and still I’m at 100%.
I know of one person (Santa Barbara) who managed to defeat this tax monster, but I think the angst over it and wrecking of his economy (tumbling off page one of the World in UN reports) had a lot to do with him leaving the game). Since I’m the founder of Wysteria, I’m obligated to stick around, but this tax monster is pretty annoying.

Or, just start RPing on International Incidents, and you'll find it very helpful indeed for giving you ridiculously massive military budgets, which at least gain you a measure of respect, even if the stats -are- practically impossible (I cite examples such as this (http://nstracker.retrogade.com/index.php?nation=Jangle+Jangle+Ridge), for instance). ;)
