The "HELP! My Email Verification Failed!" Sticky

When you click the link to verify your email, it frequently says Uh-oh
Your email verification failed. Please check to ensure that you have copied the entire URL to the locaton bar in your browser.
If you continue to have problems. Please submit a getting help request.
If possible, use your browser's BACK button to return and fix this.
99% of the time, this is not a problem with your email verification. It's some kind of bug with the way NationStates email addresses interact with the Jolt Forums. We've tried for months to isolate the problem, but it's just not going away. It does not mean that your email verification failed.
Don't file a Getting Help request yet. Try posting here first.
In this thread only, new nations may test their ability to post without it being considered spam. One post is all you need to see if it works. Click the http://assets.jolt.co.uk/forums/nation_states/buttons/reply.gif button at the bottom and type a short phrase like,
It worked! Yay!
That's it. We may clean this thread out from time to time if it gets unwieldy. So you lose a post. Get over it. All other threads on this topic will be deleted unanswered. OK? Good.
-------------
Probable explanation
Every time you click the email verification link after the first time, the Jolt verification system says (in a deep, monotonal electronic voice akin to that old mainframe from 'Colossus: The Forbin Project'), "Hey, this schmuck has already been verified here. I'm going to tell him to stuff it and quit wasting my time." I suspect the vast majority of people posting to this thread actually double-clicked the original link or button, thus the confusion.

So if I post here, does it mean I'm a WA member?
No. Email verification means you can post on the forums, nothing more. You must join the WA separately.

posting, cause I got the Uh-oh message and I think you mean I simply post to fix it?
edit: still get the Uh-oh message. Am I supposed to re-request the lost password for NationStates, or are you guys going to fix it manually or something?
edit2: Tried re-requesting it, this time I got a new password in the email, but I am still unable to log in (and this last one made me IP blocked from logging in for 45 minutes x_x)The fact that you are able to post would be a major hint that the system to allow you to post has worked, wouldn't you think?.

does this have something to do with me having to have my posts approved by mods now?
No.

...This better work...*sigh* this e-mail verifying thing is preventing me from joining the WA...
No it isn't. Email verification is for the forums. WA membership is for the WA. Two entirely different systems.
I had a nation, Mauiwowee, that I played and posted on regularly a few years back. I stopped posting and playing and let Mauiwowee "die" a natural death several years back. At that time I had never received anything more than a possible warning (don't even recall any of those however).
I recently revived Mauiwowee, but when I try to log into the forums and post it won't let me. When I click the link in the email to activate forum privileges I receive an error message that indicates I am most likely banned.
I have sent in 2 requests for assistance and received no reply as of yet - so, I would just like to know, is Mauiwowee forum banned for some reason. I'll live with it if so (though I would be curious to know the reason why), if not, what do I need to do to get Mauiwowee's forum posting privileges back?
Thank you for you time and responses.

Sorry, I thought you'd been notified of the problem.
Your ban isn't actually a ban. You hadn't posted in over a year, and as a result your forum account was purged. You don't currently have a forum account to unban.
Our mod tools weren't designed to handle this situation, as up until the recent account purge, all deceased nations still had Jolt accounts. We're trying to get a resolution to this situation, but it requires work on both the Jolt and NS sides of things, and we're having some coordination difficulties. Also, the original author of the Jolt interface is no longer with the company, so we're having to reverse-engineer this jury-rigged database-to-HTML-to-game interface. Needless to say, it's not easy.
You're far from alone in this. I revived 4 puppets this morning for some testing before I found one with a valid forum account. Many older nations have the identical problem. It's every bit as inconvenient for us as it is for you.
In the meantime, you are not banned as a moderation effect, only as a tech glitch. Feel free to post with your new/alternate nation.
Apologies all 'round.

Ok, so to be 100% clear, my old Nation of Altear (http://www.nationstates.net/altear) cannot post to the forums until such a time as you guys find a solution for this? I do not want to use this nation (Ayssyr (http://www.nationstates.net/ayssyr))at all. I would like to post in the WA area and such, am I out of luck for now?

That is correct. Our Jolt link is currently broken, so we can't even see your forum link, much less repair it. You'll have to post with the noob nation for now.

So I've been trying to return with my puppet "Gazth--Sonika" but I can't get it even logged on. I got the same verification failure message. I also tried manually logging on here but it didn't work. It still works with Mizth-Sonika though.

Hi!
I've resurrected three puppets recently (in the anticipation that I won't be that busy during the next two months :)), but none of them seems to be able to post. They can log into jolt forums, they receive their verification email, but validating them fails:
"Your email verification failed.
Reason: yeah+sure"
"Yeah sure"? Odd reason.
Anyway, just want to know, do recently resurrected puppets aren't really able to post, or is it just because of some booboo on my part?
Thanks! ;)

I have a question about E-mail Verification; My Brother and I shared the computer and used two different e-mail adresses for ours nations blah blah to make a long story short we were both banned from the WA , I asked a question about this in the little report thingie and it siad I could use my E-mail address to create a new nation ( as long as its only one) I was wondering if I could use the same E-mail I used for this one or will it not work?
