Question about vB

Hope this is in the right place. Sorry if it isn't.

I'm a super-mod on another vb3 forum and recently our admin upgraded it. As a result of that, the thread tools link (and all the other boxes at the top of each thread) no longer open, so we've lost access to our mod tools and I just can't work out how to manually move or close a thread, or if thats even possible.

I am pretty sure I read something about similar problems with this forum after its upgrade and am wondering if they've been solved.

If so, can anyone please tell me how, so I can pass the info onto our admin and he can fix his forum. He can't code, so uses pre-done code or hacks.

We'd appreciate any help on this we can get. Seeing a thread in the wrong place, and not being able to move it, is driving me nuts :D.

We don't have any admin abilities, so we're using work-arounds.

For most functions, you can make them work from the forum page, using the check boxes and the normal pull-down at the bottom. Other functions can be done by posting a reply and using the check-box utilities under "Additional Options". Typically, I'll use a period as my post, check what I need (lock, unlock, stick, unstick) and hit Submit Reply. Then I can just use the button at the bottom of the post to physically remove the post; the modifications remain.

I'm pretty sure the problem is on Jelsoft's end. As slow and lumbersome as Jolt can be, they've never taken this long to fix a problem. It looks like we just upgraded into some really buggy code.

Edit: To change thread titles, just double click from the index screen. It's amazingly handy, actually. Pity almost everything else is broken...

We've got a second set of mod tools at the bottom of the screen. When the javascript dropdowns don't work, we have most of our abilities available from the other set. It's more work, but it's there.

As for code changes, we have nothing to do with that. Jolt is entirely separate from NationStates (we 'lease' space here), and Jolt admins control all that. Check the vBulletin site for hacks and fixes. We've not been paying a lot of attention to that which we can't access.

Thanks for your answers, both of you. Will pass it on to the admin.

I'll give your metholds a try :).
