This is really starting to piss me off. No matter what it won't let me into the UN

I have tried 2 e-mails twice
I checked my spam folders
They were the e-mail I had in my settings at the time. I checked before I tried to join

And yet I got no confirmation e-mail.

I REALLY want to be in the UN. Can you help.

Because AOL is notorious for blocking NationStates e-mails, and when I say blocking them I mean so that the e-mail never gets to your account so it couyldn't be in your spam folders. You'll most likely need to change you e-mail for NS to something else and try again.

I DID try again 24 hours later.

And I waited 48 hours and tried again

Then I tried again a week later

And I tried again 2 days ago........

NOTHING

AOL often deletes spam outright, without telling you. Mods have mentioned before that AOL addresses do not like the NSUN. You could set up a Hotmail one, quickly? I don't think you'd need it anymore after you validated the email.

And I said that the problem is that AOL is blocking it before it gets to you.

Hotmail is free, as are Yahoo! mail and Gmail, and they work with NS too.

I created a hotmail account under the first and last name of David(my real first name) Screwyou. :D

I applied for the UN with it. Thanks guys, this solves everything.

Several things.

First, check you attitude at the door. You're the one who posted in the wrong forum, but despite that you got good and helpful advice.

Second, AOL does not move all spam to the spam folder. They block, return, or simply discard up to 70% of all incoming mail. Every major site on the net is aware of this, and many refuse to accept AOL addresses for confirmations and registrations because it's a pain in the neck to deal with all the issues.

Third, AOL blocks ALL our password reset requests. That's a known fact. If they're blocking UN emails now, that makes them even suckier. You should get a NS email account with somebody else. Lots of people do precisely that.

Fourth, questions that need to be answered by site officials go in either Technical or Moderation. Technical would have been the likely choice for this one, so that's where I moved it.
