Unnecessarily long links
I've noticed the moderators using links like this to highlight an individual post:
http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=10039609&postcount=153
Is there a reason not to shorten it to:
http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=10039609
...which gives the same page, except missing the post number in the top-right?
I expect it's because:
it makes absolutely no difference whatsoever;
the 'long' link is what you get by copying the link location of the thread numbered link.
Is it really a problem? I can't see it confusing anyone, and given that it's the mods who are doing it, they evidently don't mind doing so.
Is it really a problem?
No, it just struck me as rather strange. Not to matter, though.

Nowadays, you don't need the long URLs like http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=safalra for your NationState. Now, you can just use http://www.nationstates.net/safalra for the URL. Makes it a LOT easier...

Yeah, I know, but some people in my region have said that lately Jolt's been doing strange things to people's accounts when they try to change their profiles, so I'm not going to risk it until the problem's fixed.

First off, the longer URL is what is obtained automatically by clicking the number on the top of posts. I doubt the moderators want to spend any more time then necessary finding links to stuff. Second, knowing the post number is really important when you're dealing with topics that can get upward of 1000 responses. If a violation occurs *after* a moderator has responded, then being able to show it via post number is necessary.
