I'm wondering if it is possible to link to a specific post on a page. I've seen it done before, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how.

Ah, I see. I had not known that before, but that isnt quite what I meant. I want the post below the post I am linking to to show up as well. Is that possible or do I have to use the #s in the corner?

I know a long way and a manual way to do what you ask, but they're both pretty cumbersome. Let's see if somebody can post the short way, and we'll all learn from it.

Here's the way I do it, although it is probably the long version Fris alludes to, as it takes a moment. Use the syntax http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?p=xxxxxxx&posted=1#postxxxxxxx

Replace both xxxxxxx values with the seven (presumably soon to be eight) digit post number. You can tell that by holding the mouse over the black button, as shown earlier in the thread.

That should work: this, for example, links to the sixth post in this thread.

Nonetheless, that takes a bit of typing, so it's probably not 'the short way'. Sorry.

Gruenberg posted the manual method. The other method is to click to one of the post numbers (I right-click and open in a new tab/window for convenience, but that's your call). Once that opens, I click the thread link in the upper right, which yields .http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?p=9968394#post9968394 (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?p=9968394#post9968394). Maybe that is the short way after all.



Note: it didn't use to work that way. When you clicked the thread link, it took you back to post #1. I think they fixed that in the upgrade.

D'oh! Yes, I'd not realized that would give the link...stupid, really. Yep, Fris's suggestion is much quicker, so use that.

Use the "Reply with Quote" button and delete everything you don't want repeated. Other than that, I don't think it is possible to link to a specific part of a post.
