Hey, it's probably just because I'm loading these pages from half way round the world (New Zealand) but I've been getting some really high loading times - 30 seconds or more.. has been happening for a while. Any thoughts, suggestions? (no other sites are affected)

What pages? Forums? Game? UN? The World? Does it happen all the time? During update? When the server is down?

Detail helps.

Your ISP may be a little sluggish. I get long loading times like that, and it usually has something to do with my end, not NS's.

I'm guessing you mean the forums. You're probably right about the distance. I'm Australian, and I find that there are certain time periods (especially peak times in America and Europe) that make the forums near unloadable for me, and I have a relatively fast connection - and this, also, is one of the only sites it occurs on (The other main culprit would be wikipedia). To the best of my knowledge, all we can do is grin and bear it. Maybe try signing in a bit later/earlier.

Sadly, I find that the best time for going on is from about 10pm-4am...and that would be 12am-6am for you.

Yeah, sorry, just the forums. The NS site is fine. I'm on DSL and other international sites load fine - you're probably right about the peak traffic times. Its 7 pm here now and everything is running well, but later at night it gets really bad. Maybe Jolt want a australiasian mirror ;) ?

Unfortunetely for the Australians and Z-landers, most of them are pretty much going "east" around the globe through data-trunks to reach all these servers in the UK.... Since many of the "main" data-routes go through Taiwan/Japan, through the Pacific and then through North America, and then accross the Atlantic to the UK.... Kinda FUBAR, I know... but most of the bigger data-pipes don't cross the old Russian states.

I´ve had long loading times too...but being in central europe doesn´t count as half the world around...also no end-phase problem here, other sites do just fine! Maybe we should go and collect some money for Jolts :p
