Rules on Attachments?

I know I should be asking the Jolt sysops instead of the NS ones, but I'd like to know a) whether the file attachment system can be used by mere mortals like us, and b) if there are any restrictions on its use, as I don't have any webspace and don't want any.

I'm guessing that common sense applies if the attachments are allowed. This means no porn, viruses, illegal items (like stolen Government files in pdf form) et cetera.
However, I don't know if we can use it (again, I'll make a guess and say "yes, otherwise why would we have them?") and I don't know if my guess is right.
Wait until a Mod or Admin comes along.

I think you can. Assuming this post works. If they didn't want us to use it, they'd disable it.
Yeah, it worked :D

Should go without saying, but remember that rules for linked images apply to attachments, etc. etc.
Oh, and <3 Bunny.

Took a little legerdemain on my part, and it may only be temporary (or reverted to The Eye), but currently, yes. Yes we do.

That opens a whole different bag of kittens. Why cant we get avatars with the new forum version, spice up our forum a bit, give us something colorful to stare at.

That opens a whole different bag of kittens. Why cant we get avatars with the new forum version, spice up our forum a bit, give us something colorful to stare at.NS Mods, by Jolt's rules, are supposed to have avatars. Avatars do use up bandwidth, and thus cost money. Given the size of Jolt, they couldn't just give them out to everyone. They limited Avatars to three categories: a) 10,000+ posts, b) Mods/Admins, c) people who pay for their account.
The first category was removed pre-merger, presumably because of the post-whoring that goes on in Spam. 10,000 looks to be nothing to spam-forum regulars. This still left paid accounts and officials. Technically the NS Mods should have had avatars since Day 1, but it was never properly implimented, which is why some had The Eye and some of us didn't.

Plus, now it should be even easier to identify a mod. They have nice colorful pictures beneath their name. :)

Would I be able to attach, for example, a JPEG map (if I'm in a war and need to give a tactical map), or would that be pushing it?
I know not to attach BMPs (huge file size), and not TXTs or DOCs either (what's the point?). PNGs would also be a bad idea.

The decision to allow attachments again came from Jolt, not us. All normal NS rules apply (no spam / porn / flame / troll pics, for example). As to space, size, and format, I suspect that Jolt has defined limits both to the size and the amount of storage they've allocated each nation. There is an Attachment feature under your profile that may give you more information.
Personally, I prefer Photobucket and Imageshack. Attachments are ugly.
