Changing the Game! What!

My proposal to the UN was simple. Make it mandatory that after a proposal is put into law, there has to be a required period of 60 days before someone can repeal the law. This is a great solution to the problem we have in the UN right now. As of right now, we are running in circles!! People make laws and then repeal them because they ahve problems. This slows down the process in which we can enact new laws and make changes for the better of society.
Anywho, I was told that it would change the game if this was put into law. This may be true, but don't you think the game would be more effective this way?!

The game is modelled on the real UN. Changing how the game's UN works would destroy the illusion

I'm not sure about that Cisalpetia.

Anyway, the Mods have always been very clear on this: no game mechanics proposals. It doesn't matter how good your idea...I strongly doubt they will ever change their minds, and thus allow it.

(Also, I'm not sure it's a good idea anyway. Take PoSP. There, the resolution author wanted a swift repeal. Your proposal would have hindered everyone in that case.)

Not hindered, just delayed. :D

Doesn't matter. The resolution wouldn't have worked without doing some coding.

I may be wrong (though I am near positive), but I do believe that once upon a time, repealing proposals was impossible, and this was changed. Though your point still stands in that changing the games mechanics via. the UN is not an option.

El Dia Del Padre, if you have a suggestion like this, it might be a better idea to post it here in the future for discussion, or perhaps contact one of the mods or admins. :)

Yes, you're right, repeals were a mechanical addition.

However, there has never been any indication that there would be any further such changes. I wasn't stating anything as being 'the case', but rather just pointing out that given the near-official mod line on suggested changes, it was reasonable to at least assume they wouldn't make exceptions.

And, if I am entirely wrong, then my objections to the specific proposal stand nonetheless.

And that explains why we keep running in circles. LOL :p

I agree.

60 days is an awfully long period of time in this game, dozens of resolutions can be passed in that time. By the time comes around that a resolution could be repealed, it would probably be long forgotten and lost in the long list of resolutions and laws.

Sounds good. Less repeals.

But I doubt all nations would forget about it. Its the nation that want it repealed that remembers it. And brings it up. Mayby it will take a bit more work to get it repealed. But in the end.. it will either fail or succede.
