Very minor thingy - but it's been annoying me

Smoking Man? Could this be the key to unlocking the Mod conspiracy puzzle?

There's one thing that's been bugging me ever since I came on the forums. It's definitely not related to browser, as I've tried it with both IE and FF - although I use the latter almost exclusively - and it seems unaffected by which nation I'm logged in as - or indeed, if I'm logged in at all - and whether I've refreshed the cache or deleted cookies. It's this:

This box always appears in the bottom right-hand corner of the forum view - the main forum and specific ones (e.g. General, II, UN - and it's always the same for all of them) - and always looks the same. And it always has those three names in it.

Now, I know it has shown Kat's name when she hasn't been online, and similarly it has never EVER shown any other mod, even when they have definitely been online. And, looking at the list, Menelmacar is one of the older GMs, Kat a newer GM, and UP still an FM.

I looked it up, and for a moment span in my chair with a giddy yelp of 'By Jove, he's cracked it!' when I noticed the similarity of dates of UP & Kat's FM-ship. But, after that, it all fell apart: Menelmacar was already a mod (a Game Mod, in fact, I think) and wasn't 'changed' at this time (3-4th of September, 2004).

So, my question is, why do only these three Mods show? If it is the same for others, has the question already been asked - and more pertinently, answered? If not, then why does my computer suck? (Answers along the lines of 'because it's your computer' will elicit declarations of war.)

To reiterate, this is not a major priority, so please don't feel the need to respond - although it'd be nice. I have the latest FF and IE, and I don't particularly fancy d/ling Opera, so let's not have a Browser debate. But does anyone have an explanation?

It's Jolt. The rest are not listed for some reason already explained which I can't be bothered to dig up, so I'll wait for a mod or someone in the know to answer. I can confirm that it's the same with every browser.

It has to do with permissions.

All NS mods are Super-Mods (I think that's the term?). Our permissions (though not our authority) extend beyond a single forum to the forum set up as a whole. This was necessary for some of the stuff we do with juggling threads in these few forums.

Those, three moderators, on the other hand, are not only super-mods, but are also normal mods of the NationStates forums. It doesn't really effect anything because those permissions are overarched by the others.

Thank you. That explains it. It's actually a bit of an anti-climax.
