Idea For Improvement

Lyric

Once you place someone on your Ignore list, they are no longer able to see YOUR posts, either! not only can you not see theirs, they can't see yours, and thus, they cannot continue to egg you on, when you place them on ignore, because they make your blood pressure boil!!

That's a Jolt, and not an NS, improvement (I think). As such, you'd probably have to lobby the Jolt designers, rather than the NS Mods, who I doubt would be able to help you. A better suggestion in any case might be that you just learn to control yourself on the forums.

That's a Jolt (or, more accurately vB) issue, and there's nothing we can do about it. However, if you are unable to even tolerate someone you hate reading your posts, then perhaps you need to take a break from the forums.

I don't care if people I hate READ my posts...but then they go and reply to them, and bait me again...and of course, I'm not about to let them go unchallenged.

How do you know they are baiting you if you ignored them? If they intentionally go and make another account to avoid your ignore, they can get in trouble...

The whole point of the ignore function is to ignore their posts. If you're going to continue looking at their posts, despite having them on ignore, then I see no point to it. If you're so worried as to think that they're going to get the upper hand over you, then I suggest that you take a break from NS, or use a legitimate ignore on them all without looking at their posts. You're giving them the upper hand by continuing to read what they say. If you respond to them, then they truly do have the upper hand because they know that they can still get under your skin.

That is why I would like to see a change, so that when YOU put someone on Ignore, they, in turn are FORCED into putting you on THEIR Ignore.

Because they already know that they are pissing someone off...that, alone should be cause to tell them to stop responding to a person who has begged and pleaded for them to just stop.

I mean, the guy I'm having difficulty with just will not stop. I have already told him I have problems with high blood pressure, that he is making it worse, and he is going to wind up putting me in the hospital, and for the love of GOD would he just please put me on his ignore list and leave me alone...and STILL, he won't do it. there has to be a limit somewhere, where such behavior falls into obvious flamebaiting, griefing, and intentional aggrivation of another player.

I have begged, pleaded, everything I can think of, asking this guy to just please leave me alone. I'm not being unreasonable here. I just don't want my blood pressure going up and up and up. I want this guy to just leave me alone.

Now, if you guys can't do anything about this, please point me to where something can be done about it, because I would like to recommend the changhe that when you place someone on Ignore...it automatically places you on THEIR Ignore list as well. Should be able to be done without too much extra programming.

that or another idea hit me...instead of having just an Ignore list...how about a "Make Me Invisible To" List?

That is why I would like to see a change, so that when YOU put someone on Ignore, they, in turn are FORCED into putting you on THEIR Ignore. As stated before, this is beyond our capabilities to address, and likely beyond the capabilities of Jolt. You would probably have to contact the coders of vBulletin (http://www.vbulletin.com/) directly. However, this strikes me as largely unworkable and unnecessary.

Because they already know that they are pissing someone off...that, alone should be cause to tell them to stop responding to a person who has begged and pleaded for them to just stop.Generally, when you stop responding to someone they quit. It ceases to be fun. Part of the reason for actually ignoring the person.

I mean, the guy I'm having difficulty with just will not stop.So report them.

I just don't want my blood pressure going up and up and up. I want this guy to just leave me alone.Again, report him. Or find a less aggrivating hobby. If you are honestly having medical consequences because of these forums, perhaps you would be happier elsewhere.

Or, again, quit reading his posts. Your obsession with "the upper hand" is curious. Are you honestly worried about your "reputation" with a bunch of people you have never met and will never meet? This is an online forum, not life. Besides, one assumes the people whose opinions actually matter to you will not be swayed by one ignorant poster.

Should be able to be done without too much extra programming.Famous last words.

Indeed. Yesterday, I was about to leave work when I was asked to make one minor change to a php program I was working on. The feature should have taken about five minutes to add.
A very sweat-filled hour and a half later, I came to the conclusion that it is impossible without tripling the amount of code and taking several days to read books and search for help sites.
So whenever throwing remarks like that around, keep in mind that (I'm willing to bet) you're not familiar with the language, and what seems like a minor addition can take anywhere from five seconds to one month of work to implement, or may be in fact impossible.

Besides, this would be a harmful addition. Ignoring is a personal choice, not something forced on others. If I want to read someone's posts on a public forum, I should be able to do so without clicking an additional confirmation link.

You guys should read my post here, since its actually possible.

Also, to help you man, dont go on the forums for a while. Your obviously not going to get what you want here, give up. Just take a break and report him.

He IS out to get me in trouble, and I'm not going to sink to his level, using Mods to carry out my vendetta against him...the way he is attempting to do to me.

And in the vendetta case, they will not take action if it is unwarranted and they will tell you so. Maybe it would be better if you did report him or mention his name (I'll respect your decision not to, so I won't do it either), since that might get the question answered whether he is breaking the rules or you are being oversensitive by NationStates standards.

H'okay. I fail to see how reporting a rule breaker is "using the Mods", but... whatever floats your boat. Good luck with vB, but I wager it won't work.
