The economy calculator at thirdgeek lists my country as having a $1,081,363,716.71 trade deficit. How do I get my country out of the red?

I'm afraid that's the crucial part. NSEconomy isn't an official part of NS: it's just something a lot of people use. As such, you're unlikely to get an admin response here, although people might be able to post suggestions. You'll be far better off, though, going to the forums on the thirdgeek site, and looking at the threads there, one of which is bound to deal with this.

I've noticed that the nations with high tax rates have larger surpluses.
This isn't written in stone but, I've noticed a pattern of high economy and high tax rate often yield a surplus.
Try improving your economy first and if that doesn't help raise taxes.
But surplus doesn't really matter as long as your economy is high.

There is truth to the high tax thing. I tax 'em 50-59% and that will not change therefore I will have money. Try going with a currupt dictatorship. Working great for me.
