How long Does it take for an empty region to be deleted? Just out of intrest.
Sorry if this is in the wrong place.
It gets deleted at the next update. Updates occur randomly for regions, although I think it's generally between 2-4 AM (correct me if I'm wrong) EST. (At least that's what it was when Salusa was in eastern USA...not sure now.)

Last I checked, updates start around 0700h GMT (0300h EDT) and finish somewhere around 1000h GMT...
Though, I have heard rumors they occasionally shift the update to keep the invasion game interesting.

It seems true. I've seen regions that the invaders will come after the update then it takes forever to switch delegates (I usually am asleep but the next morning it appears the transaction was too late)...I'd like a mod to anser that :).

they cease to exist twice a day, during the major update (starts 7 am GMT) and the minor update (which starts around 7 pm GMT, I think)
these updates take a few hours
if a region got emptied out by a founder, or got empty because the last native ceased to exist or moved out, it's free to recreate. If it was emptied by a griefing delegate, it usually gets trickier
