2 Diffrent Users To UN but on same network?

Hello,
I am wondering what problems I would run into if two different users are using the same network on NationStates. See I have a wireless network and I am broadcasting it so a mate of mine can use it. I was going to tell him about NationStates, but if he where to sign up and apply to the UN. There would be me and my mate on the same IP Address. Thus it would look as if I had two nations to the UN, which I see is against the rules, I am wondering what other methods the system uses? It says there are 4. If I where to wager a guess I would say it would be the users IP, Computer Name, and 2 others. Now I am not asking what those two are. But I am asking if the first two are right, becouses if this is the case then I would be ok right? Because my mate and I have different computer names. But if I am wrong is there any way that we could legitimate get around this, MOD'S maybe there is a manual way that we could prove it would not be me?

Please note that none of this has been done yet, I wanted to make sure there was no way I was braking a rule or any thing. Also, my question is in regards to this game not that my mate is using my internet connection!

Thanks

If you are both operating off of the same parent IP address, then it's a no-no. Regardless if you have 2 different machines on your domain, the cheat scan goes by IP address, and therefore you would get nailed. This happens a lot (or is a worn out excuse) with people running off of home networks, schools, or businesses.

I think the rule is "one UN nation per computer", so if you have different computers, it'll be fine. The 4 methods are IP address, login pattern, and two secret ones only known to Salusa and [violet] (I think they violate the fourth amendment or something, lol). I think you'll be fine, but then again, I'm not a game mod, so I don't know.

I am pretty sure I know what the other two are (as well as two others that can be used) but I will not post them here for the same reasons Admin will not (easy to avoid if you know about it)

But as AMF said, if you both are using the same rounter, you will likely appear to be the same computer. Therefore, you would be called a multi. I know there is a way to have the router not display an IP adress and to use each computers IP, but this would mean you would have no firewall, and on some routers it is a bit confusing... perhaps just have your mate maintain a UN nation on his internet connection?

Ya I know how to get the router to not show an ip but I also have a terminal server on my network so my ISP dosn't know I have a network. But, thanks all, guess I just wont tell him about nationstates, for my safety... :(

AMF, E-X, please, you're not correct here.

By sharing an IP address (which you'll be doing here) it greatly increases the likelyhood that you'll be caught for being UN Multies, however we do know about these networks (many of us use them) if this is the only thing, then you will probably be fine (though I make no guarantees).

The biggest thing that we suggest avoiding is multiple UN nations on a single computer. That's a pretty much sure-fire way to get tossed out of the UN.

I don't get it. You said I was incorrect but then you said there is still a likelihood that he will get busted?

Wait. I'm also confused...

I was advised last summer that my fiancee and I should avoid being in the UN, because we were on the same network getting our internet connection from the same router.

That means that we both can be in the UN as long as we don't access each other's nations from the other's computer?

Now, here's the more important question, if we are picked up as UN multis, how do we fight that accusation if we're being told this is okay?
