I have tried to attach a picture to a post and jolt will not let me as its not the correct file type. Ive tried Jpeg, jpg, gif, bmp and most of the most popular picture formats.
As its a forum where pictures have been allowed i am flummoxed. Please enlighten me.

I don't believe you can attach anything, I believe that function has been turned off for security reasons. If you use the [img] tags and upload the picture to a free service like ImageShack (http://www.imageshack.us) it'll work.

I'm not sure if it was for security reason, but yes, attachments are disabled.

Was that a recent decision and is it likely to be recalled? just wondering fris and thx for the quick reply.

I don't remember when they were disabled. Shortly after the Jolt move, maybe.
I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for their return.

Maybe they just want to save disk space...
2and2 (http://www.2and2.net/) is actually very nice because no registration is required at all. All you need to do is click "Upload" and select and image, and it will give you a URL. It's not feature-heavy, though. It doesn't have personal albums or anything, and you can only post images (no scripts). It does have a "make picture private" option, however.

Just out of curiosity, if attachments are banned, why does it say they are allowed down in the posting rules in the lower left corner of the page?

Probably for the same reason you're "allowed" an Avatar.
Avatar's simply need to be -1 x -1 pixels, the allowed extentions for attachments is blank, therefore every attachment is of a disallowed set.
My guess is that paid users are allowed to use them, so they just blank them for normal users, and increase to real levels for paid customers.
