[quick note, I realise there is an NS portal being built, but I wanted to give it a try]

I'm thinking of writing a quick program in either perl/gtk or Java that will interface with NationStates in much the same way as Phoebos' portal does (I didn't realise he was making one until Myrth pointed it out).

I was just wondering a couple of things:

Would there be interest in this?

Is there a good way around having to transmit the nations password in plain text between the client and the website?

Not currently. (And there isn't one even in planning stages.)

Fair enough, I know it would be a pain in the butt to set up anyway.
