Lendidstan

I have not been playing nation states very long but I want some advice about how people measure where their nations really are.
So far I've learned to use the XML feed (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/nationdata.cgi/nation=lendidstan) as well as various Nation States economy calculators.
I've noted that the calculators will sometimes conflict with the description of my nation... but today I've seen that Nation States will even conflict with itself.
Today (May 26th) I find that my nation is ranked highly for having the "Stupidest Citizens". This was hard for me to accept since the description of my Nation (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=lendidstan ) says the population is "hard-nosed, hard-working, and intelligent".
Maybe it's just a glitch, but what I really want to know from the veterans of this game. How do you measure where your nations really are?
