It's not a bug. It's how you answer issues, plus any UN effects if you're a member. It costs a lot to run a country the way you want. Better learn to budget.

Some issues are blatantly obvious about their effects and some are quite subtle. Regarding taxes maybe this (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=362984&highlight=taxes) will give you some helpful tips.

A lot of issues also appear to be innocent but actually raise taxes. For instance anything increasing government spending (i.e. giving prizes for the positive portrayal of minorities) will also increase taxes.

Ok ill try doing some of that stuff and i hope it helps.

one thing that might actually be bug in the game is the fact that the game doesnt realize how much tax a gov't needs to function. If you have say...10% tax you really shouldnt be able to run many gov't programs unless your making TONS of money in other ways. Whereas if you have like 80% tax the gov't shouldnt be spending all that...do you know what i mean?

Well, actually your government could easily be making money through means other than income taxes. Possible other taxes include (but are not limited to) sales, imports, luxury, property, and transportation -such as toll roads. It doesn't have to be limited to what the government gets from personal income tax.

It's NOT a bug. It's intentional. It's political satire.

We're not trying to be realistic here, we're trying to make you see just how unintentional effects can wreck your nation, and to attempt to do so in a somewhat humorous way. Don't expect realism from NationStates. That's not what we do here.

One strange thing i've noticed since saying that Rich people should pay more tax is that they are paying 100% income tax. Does this mean that my nation will end up with no rich people? I do hope so.
