IP address problem.

I just tried to log into my nations page, and it has said that (paraphrasing as I forgot to cut what it said) after reading several failed attempts to log in, my ip address has been blocked for 45 minutes. This can't be right, as I've not even been online since I left several hours ago (nearly 6, if I recall.)

So why has my ip been blocked? I know that it'll unlock again, but this isn't the first time that it has happened to me, by my recollection, this is the third. Both other times when I was checking my telegrams after being on the NS: general forum for some time.

(is this a common error? I took a quick check down the first page, and didn't see any identical problems... if it's just a random bug, fair enough, I s'pose.)

Someone has been tryng to get into your nation(I assume)

Do you use a public computer or private one? Someone could be accessing your computer without you knowing of it

it's a shared home pc, only with family. None of them play NS.
before I came back on the pc, it was used by my little brother, who doesn't often use the internet.

if you use dial up it may not even have been you(or related to yor nation) it could be your neighbor or some one across town, dial up's tend to give the same ip to multipal users

2mb broadband, haven't had dial-up for some time now, so I doubt it's that.

There are many possible reasons for this. Someone could be trying to get into your account (unlikely), someone could be trying to stop you from getting into your account (unlikely), your IP address could've been rotated with somebody else's who had been blocked for 45 minutes (possible?).

There is the possibility however. Ask them. :)

nation hacking is a big problem that has ruined many good peoples reputations and has made a lot of problems for people who want to do something and something like this happens. it is a major problem, a problem that I dont think is gettiong enough attention.

It is the player's responsibility to keep their account safe. We can only provide technical measures.

It's not the locksmith's fault if you give your key to your friends and they rob you. Nor is it his fault if someone who lives in your house steals from you. Likewise, it isn't our fault (And there is nothing that we can do about it) if you choose an easily guessed password, then there is nothing that we can do. If you leave your account logged in (or set to "autologin") when other people can access your computer, there is nothing you can do.

We do what we can, but the great majority of stolen accounts are due to people being careless with their passwords. And that's your responsibility.

I'm not saying my nation has been hacked. But rather that my IP has been blocked three times now (for 45 minutes each time) due to "security reasons" to do with an incorrect password being guessed, 2 of these times I had been on the computer for several hours beforehand starting from the time I initially logged into my nation, so it's nobody in this house that is doing it (it'd be hard for them to hack my nation as I sat at the chair, and there is no other computer in the house.) I'm just wandering if such a bug was common, or there is something stranger.
