Myself and everyone in my region is going to be shipping out for two and a half months, is there anyway to get a little more leniency on Nation deletion?

Can't do it without recoding the game. It's automatic.
However, nations deleted due to inactivity can easily be restored via a Getting Help (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=help) request. You could even do a batch request for your entire group. With a short explanation, I think any GM would be just fine with that.
Alternately, you could have everyone resign from the UN, change to some agreed-upon password, and pass them all to somebody remaining Stateside and online. They log in once a month or so to keep them all alive. When you get back, change passwords and rejoin the UN.
