Auto-Login is driving me NUTS!

I created a puppet nation yesterday and, once I created it, made sure that the auto-login feature was turned OFF. Klonor, my main nation, has the auto-login feature turned ON. Yet, no matter how many times I sign out of the puppet nation or how many times I update the settings of the seperate nations to make sure the auto-login is what it's supposed to be, it always logs into the puppet whenever I'm inactive for any period of time. It's nothing extremely important, but it's really irritating to need to log out of the puppet and into this nation whenever I log on.

I've never had this problem, but it just sounds as though you should check the settings very throughly

I've had this problem. Whenever I typed in <http://www.nationstates.net> on my computer, it took me to my nation Jeffie, even though I turned off auto-login. What I did was change my bookmark to http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/32173/logout=1, which always works. (You can replace "32173" with any random sequence of 5 digits and it will still work - I've tried it.) Hope this helps.

Delete the autologin cookie.

Where would one find that (I feel dumb asking, but I can't seem to figure it out at the moment)?

It depends on what operating system and browser you are using.

If you are using a Windows system and Internet Explorer 6 or higher, you can go to Tools / Internet Options and click the Settings button under Temporary Internet files. Click View Files....

Sort the file list by "Internet Address", and look for Cookie:<varies>@www.nationstates.net/. (<varies> will be something related to you, like your logon name.) Delete all cookies from nationstates.net. Now go to your bookmarked nation page and log back in with the one you want to use. It'll probably stick on that one this time.

Similar rules would apply for other browsers, but I don't know offhand where they store their cookies. Opera keeps all of theirs in a proprietary file. You'll have to look for cookie management screens in other browsers. The cookie names should be just about the same.

It clears all cookies, empties the history, and clears the Downloads window. On OS 9, I think you have to use the "File" menu, but I'm not sure.

Just for reference, when you create a nation, it automatically is set in auto-login mode, which means it automatically creates the cookie, even if you turn it off. You have to manually go in and delete it, even if you turn it off right after you create the nation.

That doesn't always work. I, personally, have never had that work.

Did you try deleting the cookie cache altogether? That worked for me when I had the same problem.
