Totally confused.

I've just gotten into the forum bit of NationStates and now I'm confused. At first I thought this took place on planet Earth, then I read stuff talking about spacecraft and planetary defenses. I though this was modern day until I hear about said spaceships. As well, in the Internation Incidents forum I see people just posting about their spacecraft that they're inventing, which I thought the forum was just for international incidents.

Help me here, I'm utterly confused.

P.S. Two other questions. One is how do I submit my own issues? Second is how do I change my government's stance on an issue? I accidently chose something that didn't fit with my government's way of thinking, and I want it changed back.

Thanks.

certain thraeds are for different things...Some are for RPing, others are for debating...

You can submit your own issues after you each your 500million population mark...

To change a governmaent's stance on an issue(this si only if it hasn't been updated yet) click on the other options and it will change your selection

You didn't exactly answer the question about what time period this is supposed to be, and what planet(s) we're doing this on. However, that did answer some of the replies.

The issues thing was my concern because it already went through.

NationStates is shared by players who wage war in the past, modern and future. You just have to get aquinted with the certain role playing community would want to be with.

I suggest you make an introduction role play in either International Incidents or Nation States and introduce your government and such in purely in character fashion. I'm sure some others will tag along, and you'll make yourself known to a certain group.

Some people host opening of embassies in order to 'get known'.

But, I'm going off on a tangent - in short, NS is played on different time settings.. role play on whichever one you want.

Time it takes place in:- Now, the past and the future.

Where (pt1) ?: - An Alternative Earth (Hence why no real world people & events occur in the Internation and Nationstate forums; The exception is the General forum).

Where (pt2) ?: - Space......anywhere you want to roleplay.

You missed Technology level:- Any level you wish ie Primitive weapons up to and including futuristic stuff. You can even mix and match you technology level depending on how you envision your nation. It is recomended that you pick a tech level and stick to it; or you can roleplay it advancing if you wish. Warning! There are players who can be a bit anal retentive on technology, they insist on people proving that the said technology can be done. My advice is to ignore it if they are just being picky, remember you are telling a story and not hosting a technology development website

Thanks. :)

But what if I have a disagreement with an übertech or low tech race, and went against my 200-year futuristic nation? How would that play out?

That all depends on you. You fight your own wars. It is probably most likely that yoir '200-yaer futuristic' nation would prevail...

I don't quite understand the question. However, if this answers anything... if someone from a different technological level attacks you, you have all the right to decline to role play, and vice versa.
