Database Error

This is probably something to do with Jolt, but...

I keep getting an error message that says something like "There has been a database error", but doesn't offer any real specifics. Normally I would just ignore it and continue on, but it was doing this for a few minutes just now, and it lost a rather lengthly post I had made in response to Hack's UN Rules draft.

If it is something you can fix, could you, and if not, can you harass the Jolt Admins about it? Thanks.

These forums, here. I got one when I first tried to log in (after getting the NationStates error message), but it fixed itself when I did as asked and hit the refresh button. The second one (or rather, ones) happened when I tried to post a reply in the thread mentioned above, and they did not get fixed with the refresh button. I had to go back to NationStates and log back in there.

These database errors are getting more and more frequent. My unprofessional and not-in-any-way-experienced opinion is that Jolt is headed for a crash.

I have no doubt that it has to do with the large amount of traffic that NS brings.

As for your lengthy post, write it in notepad or word and then copy and paste it, you wont lose your posts that way.

I get at least five database error messages a day/night. Usually after three to five minutes, I can again access the site.

Agreed. Anything of significant length should be drafted in a word processor of some kind.

Forum problems are generally the domain of Jolt Admins.

I agree; I get them quite frequently, too.

If, going by my lack of experience and pure guessing, the frequency of errors is so high, maybe we need to be considering the one thing Max doesn't want to do again. I would rather not, but if it continues, we may have to.

Alright, I just had two database errors within the last 20 minutes. This is getting rediculous.

One of the times where NS becomes extremely slow/full of errors is around the same time every night. 11pm Eastern Standard Time (Eastern part of the US) every night, til around 1120 or so, the forums are practically inaccessible.

Every day between 0400 and 0430 GMT the forums crash and burn. Don't know why, can't do anything about it, we're not Jolt admins. Still, it's entirely predicatable, and you can do other things for a half an hour.

As for all the other times this also happens, you too can break toes kicking the Jolt servers, just like we mods do. Nobody is exempt, not even [violet] (to my knowledge).

Hmm. That gives me an idea for a new conspiracy theory. Once that states [violet] is behind it and has a secret switch that causes it. Should be good for a few laughs...

It's not a secret switch. It's the freeze-up that's caused when [violet] goes on a killing spree and DEATs hundreds of random nations.
spoooooooky.

So [violet] has a nation-killing death ray that is so powerful it causes server problems when in use?

No, [violet] doesn't need a deathray. [violet] only needs the adminly psychic powers to blow up entire worlds from light-years away.

EDIT:
Perhaps now would be a good time for me to stop threadjacking.
