Changing Political Orientation?

NationStates—
Is it possible for a nation to change its political orientation (increase its political freedoms, for example) down the road? It seems counterproductive and unrealistic to have political orientation carved in stone.
Thank you in advance.

It's certainly not carved in stone at all.
In fact, it's nowhere near carved in stone, those are probably the most changeable things about nations. The way you answer issues can raise or lower political freedoms, the nation's economy, personal freedoms, taxes, and a slew of other things too.

My good collegue is correct. Merely answer all the issues you recieve, and watch your political orientation change. I leave you to your business and go to tend to my own.

In all honesty, I had not realized that issues actually affected a nation's political orientation. I suppose that is what I get for being new!
Thank you both for the clarification.

It's easier to change personal and political freedoms down the road, but if you have a low economic rating as an older nation, it's pretty much carved in stone.

Really?
That's not always the case. For example, if there is a large nation out there who did not actually answer his issues, and left it at the 5 issue cap, then it'll be easier to change everything, but if they actively did answer issues since the time that their nation was created, then yes, it's going to be a heck of a lot longer to even put a dent in anything. It all depends on if you do your issues or not.
