UN Networking problem...

Ok here's the deal. I play Nationstates and mentioned it to my missus who also took an interest. Now we are both addicted but we share an internet connection via a network. i.e. her PC is networked to mine and mine is connected to broadband.

I've recently joined the UN just out of interest. She was thinking of doing the same BUT if she does will the game engine or mods assume that it's the same PC and ban us both since we are both sharing an internet connection?

You would both show up as having the same IP address, so yeah, you would be in technical violation. You would most likely have both nations ejected from the UN as a result.

If you want, you can join your nation for a while, then resign yours, let her sign up (wait 24 hours for safety), and thus alternate UN membership. Anything simultaneous would almost certainly be interpreted as multiing.

If either of you has access to another computer (work, school) and wants to play a UN nation exclusively from there, that would be fine. You may each have multiple nations, as long as only one is in the UN.

If there is anyone else playing a UN nation from that computer, you could both be ejected, too.

Point taken. I'm so used to having my (four to eleven) work computers totally to myself, I forget some people share them. Besides, nobody at my office has time to play NS at work, not even me. Dammit.

And, sorry for hi-jacking this topic... :p

Alternatively, to the suggestions by the others, you could also talk to your ISP about the possibility of a second IP address for your missus' computer. Some companies charge, other's don't, but if you're both that interested in being in the UN, it might be worth a shot.

Pretty much listen to everyone else. However, you should also have separate emails as your nation's emails or else that would also get you booted from the UN.

Considering UN applications are automatically rejected if the e-mail is being used by an existing UN nation...

No, the application is simply rejected.
