I think its unfair that the website was created by a capitalist..
i dont know if hes done it on purpose or not.. but every single leftist country has a shitty economy or its completly imploded..

economic decisions and social decision are somewhat connected, but you can have a leftist state with a better econnomy then a rightist stats..

i think this should be fixed.. and i hope that the leftist in this forum can suport me on that one.

Government know how to run businesses too, to benefit both the employees, the owner(the government) as well as the people that it serves.. and it can do it better then private enterprise..

the main reason why people look badly at government run companies.. is that the government mostly have to run shit comanies that yeild no real profits (like amtrak) and they have to run them because its a public service.

but on the other hand in quebec, the government runs the gambling industries, and makes billions of dollars a year which it pumps right back into the health care and education systems.

please fix !

1. Is Max really a capitalist? That's more than I heard. I think you're just assuming here.

2. There are plenty of leftist countries with frightening economies. Hell there are nations with 100% tax rates (the government takes each and every penny anyone has) with frightening economies. That alone is so unrealistic I'm not sure how much less realistic you think it ought to be...

3. Government runs business better than private entrepeneurs? Uh. LOL. Only if the government employs force (legal or physical)... but in that case, private entrepeneurs employing force can enjoy greater success...

4. I don't think they're going to mess with the game's 'engine' at this point anymore. Not even to make it even MORE biased in favor of leftists. Sorry.

My point is not which is better for mankind, but there's really not much evidence in support of your assertion that government run businesses are more profitable than privately run businesses.

Look at your examples - if Amtrak had to stand on its own two feet it would simply be out of business. The government will pump money in it to keep it alive because it serves a public need, but if it were privately owned it would have been sold off and liquidated long ago. The money derived therefrom would have been invested in other ventures from which the owner may have made a profit (or may have lost its rear end).

That the state can make money from gambling is no big surprise, considering gambling was illegal before the government decided to get into the business. The government is guaranteed to make money on gambling when it controls the only legally sanctioned gambling business in the country.

Capitalism can be ugly, but the fact remains that capitalist economies are typically more robust than those of communist nations. That's not to say life is better or worse in a capitalist country for the average person

But I agree that the engine of this game is pretty screwy. I for one am tired of getting the same issues over and over and over, so much so that I rarely look at the site more than once a week. And the problem with the issues is that almost invariably all of the options involve increasing taxes to benefit one group over all the others.

No need to get political. Or impudent for that matter :p

And what's not to say that abstract isn't interesting (no specific reference to this example intended, simply a response to "That alone is so unrealistic I'm not sure how much less realistic you think it ought to be...") ;)
