This is getting really old. For as long as I've been on NationStates, the name Erusia has been reserved. However, every time I checked the world, it doesnt exist. This gets old after a while.

That means that it belongs to a dead nation. The nation either died from inactivity or pissed off the mods.
edit: oh hey look at that, my 1000th post.. and i've been here for over a year... that is lame.

Up until recently, there was no hope of ever seeing that name again. I'm not sure why you had expectations that they would become available. There are approximately 100,000 active nations and over a million reserved names, so quite a few others will also show up as reserved but not active. That's just how it is.
[violet] and Salusa are working up code to free up some of the older names, but even when they do the released names will be 18 months dead or older. Some names (rulebreakers, Resolution and Issue authors, etc) will never be re-released. Keep checking and maybe you'll get lucky. Or maybe not.

The reason they do that is because nations can be resurrected if the owner should happen to return. I've had one of my puppets resurrected... twice... but if someone had taken that name, it would have created a major problem.
