Found this neat little trick...

http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=tuesdayheightsuser=tuesday%20heights

With that URL, I can send a telegram to myself... anybody else try this?

One of my friends incorrectly linked to his nation and added that [user=tuesday%20heights] bit at the end. Before anyone gets any idea, it will still send you a telegram from your account, even if you put another nation's name in the [user=xxx] part.

Whenever there's something I need to remember, I import it into a Word document.

Passwords, telegrams, screenshots... I have little under a gigabyte of my HD devoted to NationStates.

May as well let you guys know what is going on. All that matters is htat it be an invalid nation that it's trying to load. If it detects and invalid nation it will default to displaying your own (with the telegram box).

Thanks, Sal, for the technical side of it.

So it's essentially a variant of the old "Display an invalid nation, such as [violet], and get yourself" trick?

It works! I sent a telegram to myself saying "Hy! I'm sending a telegram to myself!"

Hmmm. See, I just spent over a year on the game and developed a strange ability to memorise rules and sources, but almost nothing about my chemistry classes. Go figure.

* Really should start using my old thumb-nail drive for N.S. stuffs come to think of it. As opposed to the random " New Text Doc ( number ) " to then be dumped in My Documents, never to be seens again ...

Well, both of you are doing better than me. I haven't yet bothered to even write down my passwords for my puppet nations...
Much less actually save anything related to NS to my hard drive...

Speaking of passwords, I'll go write those down. It would be annoying to lose any of my nations at the moment.

The gig of information I have on NationStates includes a lot of role-playing stuff for my nation and its President, along with all the intelligence I've gathered in my time in the game, too. Statistics regarding my nations, puppet passwords, etc.
