Continuation of Foreign Language [Moved and merged]

I am a new player hear and I am very interested in the diversity of NationStates. I do have a question though. Are there ANY resolutions WHATSOEVER from the UN dealing with language? If not I would like to get a proposal passed that would help to breed cultural and linguistical understanding. I have noticed many francophile countries (like mine) many spanish speaking ones, even ones with ties to Asian culture and language. I would like to create (from these "foreign for lack of a better word" nations) boards to translate pages of NationStates and to work as intermediaries in the non anglophone worlds. Also, to breed cultural diversity and appreciation, and to talk of international and non-american based politics. I am too puny to attempt anything like that. Is anyone a member of a culturally or linguistically tied nation that would be interested, a region or UN delegate perhaps? Just a question...a thought.

I think that's a wonderful idea.

Perhaps we could start by translating the text of passed resolutions?

I say "we", but my french isn't good enough to be much of a help.
I know some native french speakers with some spare time on their hands, though. I'm sure I could convince one or two to help with translation.

Anything relating to the forums is independent of the UN. There was a case of a proposal which mandated use of the forums being deleted, despite the fact it had already achieved quorum.
Make a thread in Technical about this, but to be perfectly honest I doubt it would happen anytime soon. It would require massive amounts of admin action, plus setting up more mods to look after the non-English pages.

Well I didnt want the website to actually create the pages they could exist on personal websites, the forums, etc. and could be emailed to those who needed them. And also it isnt just the language it is the idea of spreading cultural awareness, appreciation, ad infinitum. It was just an idea though.

NationStates provides the XML feed for national and regional statistics.
It should be an easy enough thing to translate thirdgeek's site into other languages.
And I think thirdgeek set it up as open source, if I'm not mistaken, so it shouldn't even be all that difficult.
If that's the kind of thing you're interested in, I'll volunteer some small amount of help.

If you mean translating the resolutions and stickys (FAQ, Proposal Guidelines, etc), I don't know. Enn brings up a point I hadn't even considered - jolt and/or max barry might claim right of review of translations, even on a third party website.

We should definitely continue this discussion on the technical forum.
