Did the view counter break? My Earth II thread has been at 18,222 views for like a week and a half now.

Yeah, and most threads over in General always list one more view than they have posts, as though it weren't actually counting views and was simply incrementing both from one function or something.

That's II actually. Some of the participants and I have a theory that we broke the counter since it was going up by the 1000s every time we looked ;).

What I described was happening in General. Then again, I don't follow II, so I wouldn't know if it were happening there.

Hee.
That is messed up.

On the DemocraticUnderground.com forums, the views function had to be switched off a few weeks after it was enabled following the software upgrade to DCForum+ Version 1.1 - it was making the site crash. Ever since then, I've been highly wary of views functions.

I brought this up here in technical a week or two ago, and the problem seemed fixed about the same time Myrth suggested reporting this to Jolt admin ... so I think this is a problem that is hitting various areas of Jolt.
The UN and NS2 forum currently are experiencing this. When looking at threads, remember that older threads will often still have their high post count.
For me, I always gauge the interest in a UN resolution by the number of views, not posts. While not entirely accurate, the Tsunami and Sex Industry Worker counts are completely off and I don't feel comfortable reporting anything based on what we can see for those debates.
