That is, if I had the word "tuba" in my sig, and then searched for tuba, would all my posts that used that sig be found?

Although you will likely get help here, this is the kind of question that would get more responses in one of Jolt's main forums, because it is concerning the Jolt forum, not NS specifically.

I think the search only is concerned with the actual posts. Not all members have the signature option turned on, so it wouldn't do them much good anyway.

Wow, 30 threads with 'tuba' in it!
And I believe sigs don't count , that would be the logical answer.
