Release old nation names.

"Because the number of names reserved for former nations is getting kind of ridiculous (850,000 and counting), we'll soon begin releasing the names of nations that were purged for inactivity more than 18 months ago. That means you'll be able to create a fresh new nation with the same name as an old, deleted one (and the old one won't be able to be resurrected)."

Is that ever going to happen?

It's been almost 2 months already..

Most of the older names that were made free have already been taken.

All will be revealed in time.

Indeed, it is already happening.

just take a look at the nation Germany.
"population of 6 million"

However, i think "new" old names are released on a dailly basis.

There is a good reason for not releasing them too quickly - namely that those deleted nations have reputations and histories in NationStates. Basically a new nation with an old name could cause confusion....can you image how popular a nation named Bissons would be?

Right ...

First off, only nations who died 18 months ( and + 28 ? ) days ago will be available to use, and further more, only those nation names who were not deleted by Moderators or banned or other-wise will be available and match the 18 month date stamp of death will get re-release.

Second, some nation names ( About 40 in all ) were released by Staff for testing the system to make sure things run smooth and for bug fix diagnostics, but there is no information public at this time that I am aware of that tells us how soon the over-all release will be or when it starts.

So as far as I know, we are all still stuck waiting for now.

Good things come to those who wait ( A bit more ) as they say ...

Yea, lol. This is exciting. But I think it would be better to do it over 12 months.

I have seen some them being created, like Germany, Japan, France, Holland, Sweden, Italy, and some more. If you want a certain name, you better keep on trying :p

Technically it's already started, but on hold while I bug-test. But I think I'm almost finished that, so it should resume within the next few days. Because there are so many names to release, it will take two to four weeks to complete.

Yes, but that is just the bug test, after all, so really I think my evidence was enough to support my hypothesis, not prove, of course ... :p
