A Question About Creating New Nations Under New Names

O.K....., First time I came to NationStates a few months ago I had plenty of names in mind for my new new nation. All of them were taken. So, I made name that nobody would have and created my nation. I do love my nation, but it still bugs me. I searched for thes nations with the name taken, and they no longer existed.

Is it the fact that you can't take the name of a long dead Nation, or something else? If this is the case, I am requesting that the list of all of the past dead nations be cleared so I can have the name I like, because more and more names are dying off, and soon there will be no good ones....

Please Clarify on how this works, anyone who knows, I am so lost.....

Yes.

The original nation may wish to return via ressurection, so those names are reserved. The original nation may have a history (good or bad) on NS, so reuse of names is not allowed as you would be assuming someone else's history.

Some early names (18 months old and older) are due to be released, but a timetable has not been announced, nor a list of possible names. I'd bet that a lot of RL nation names will become available once again, but only time will tell.

I can imagine it now: Someone takes the name "America" and posts "i n00k joo!1!" and "i atak joo!1!" in multiple threads.

Well, if you can't you should be able to ressurect your old nations or something. I mean, the nation names Balmora, Caldera, Morrowind, Vvardendel, all of those from Morrowind are taken, but, hey, they don't exist anymore, and it sucks. soon there will be almost no names left...... 18 months is WAAAAYYYY too long for those names to become available....

yeah, but 18 months is also how long it may take if someone has some personal work and must retire but will come back eventaully

it also shouldn't be any shorter than 12 months at the least

Well you can cease the conjecture on the time period, because its 18 months and that is that. Further-more, no idea when its to be done, I think this particular act of coding will come from the hands of The Barry himself, as it were ...

* Might I add, only those nations who meet the 18 month time period and have not been deleted by Moderation staff wil be released ...

Mostly.

Former Mods and certain other nations won't be released (ie: Maxtopia or Enodia)

Including nations who wrote issues and UN resolutions, I think.
